Tally Alternatives for Small Business in India (2026)

An honest look at Tally alternatives for Indian small businesses: when to stay on Tally, when Vyapar, myBillBook or Zoho Books fit, and when you need more.

Facts and prices checked on 2 November 2026.

Plenty of Indian small businesses use Tally. Plenty also wonder whether they should. This guide is written by a company that sells a Tally alternative, so we say where we are not the right pick, we use each vendor's own public price page, and we date every figure. Prices and offers change often, so check the live page before you decide. This is a buyer's guide, not tax advice. Please confirm anything that touches your books with your CA.

When Tally is still the right answer

Stay on Tally if your CA works in it every day and wants your books there. The cost of moving is not the software price. It is the month of confusion, the retraining and the risk of mistakes in the first quarter. If your accounts are working, your CA is happy and you do not need anything Tally lacks, do not move for the sake of moving.

Think about moving when you notice one of these: you need bills from a phone more than from a desk; you want stock, staff and customers tracked in the same place as your accounts; you pay for add-ons and extra tools to cover gaps; or more than one person needs to use the system (TallyPrime Silver is a single-user licence, per its page).

Three kinds of software people call alternatives

Other names exist too, such as Busy, Marg and Gimbooks. We have not read their price pages for this guide, so they are not in the table.

Prices from each vendor's own page, 2 November 2026

These come from the vendors' public pricing pages as we read them on 2 November 2026. Vendors often show offer prices, struck-through prices and extra taxes. Read the live page before you buy.

ProductPrices as shownWhat the page says
TallyPrimeSilver (single user): Rs 750 a month, Rs 8,100 for 12 months, Rs 22,500 lifetime. Gold (multi-user): Rs 2,250 a month, Rs 24,300 for 12 months, Rs 67,500 lifetime. All plus 18% GSTMonthly and term plans auto-renew until cancelled
VyaparDesktop and mobile, 1 year: Rs 2,799 (listed from Rs 3,599). Desktop only: Rs 2,399. Desktop and mobile, 3 years: Rs 6,299. Mobile only, 1 year: Rs 599Licences include priority support. The page does not mention e-way bill or e-invoice
myBillBookPlus: Rs 3,490 a year. Pro: Rs 3,990 a year. Pro Max: from Rs 570 a month, billed annuallyPlus is 1 user and 1 CA, no desktop app. Pro adds the desktop app and unlimited godowns. Pro Max lists e-way bill, e-invoicing, POS billing, recurring billing and Tally data export on request
Zoho BooksFree plan. Standard: Rs 749 a month billed annually (Rs 899 monthly). Professional: Rs 1,499 a month billed annually (Rs 1,799 monthly)Free is 1 user and 1 accountant, up to 1,000 invoices. Standard has 3 users and up to 5,000 invoices a year. Prices are exclusive of local taxes
BecozAIAccounting & GST alone, Starter plan: Rs 378 a month or Rs 3,843 for 1 year. Full system, Starter: Rs 1,200 a month or Rs 12,200 for 1 year. Both plus 18% GSTStarter has 10 logins and 3 branches. Plans are prepaid and do not renew automatically

Read this table with care. The products do different jobs. A Rs 600 mobile billing app and a Rs 24,300 multi-user accounting licence are not the same thing, and the cheapest row is not automatically the right fit. Compare what you need to run, not the headline price.

One fair point in Tally's favour: it also sells a lifetime licence, so the cost per year drops if you stay for many years. Subscriptions are the opposite: a lower entry cost, with a fee every year.

Where each type fits

A billing app (Vyapar, myBillBook)

Choose this if your main need is quick GST bills from a phone and simple dues, and you can send your CA a set of reports at year-end. The entry price is low. Check the details: on myBillBook's page, e-way bill and e-invoicing appear on the higher Pro Max plan, and on Vyapar's page they are not mentioned, so ask about them if you need them. Vyapar's own page says it can import and export Tally data, which helps if you are leaving Tally slowly. That page is written by Vyapar and is promotional.

Accounting software (Zoho Books)

Choose this if you want proper ledgers and reports with users limited by plan. Zoho Books has a free plan for one user, which suits a very small business. The Standard plan caps invoices at 5,000 a year, so a busy shop should look at the limits.

An all-in-one system (BecozAI)

Choose this if you want billing, accounts, stock, staff and customers in one place, with branches. BecozAI Accounting & GST has GST invoices, credit notes, party ledgers and dues, a trial balance, balance sheet, profit and loss, bank statement import and reconciliation, and GSTR files as downloads for upload to the portal. Stock, staff and leads are separate products on the same system.

Moving your data

Where BecozAI fits, and where it does not

BecozAI fits a business that wants bills, accounts, stock, staff and customers on one system, with up to 3 branches on every paid plan, and that is happy to work remotely with us. It is a cloud product with a published address in Whitefield, Bengaluru, and we have no local office in Mumbai or elsewhere. Setup and training are done remotely.

It is not the right pick if:

If it does fit, the 7-day free trial lets you test with your own data. Read our Accounting & GST page, and for Maharashtra month-end dates see accounting for Mumbai businesses. For GST bills in particular, see GST billing for Mumbai traders.
